Listen to Obituary

Amelia "Amy" Nicole Thorpe, 43, of Kingsport, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 20, 2025. Born in Abingdon, Virginia, Amy's life was a bright thread woven through every heart she touched.

A 2000 graduate of Sullivan South High School, Amy was known even then for her joyful spirit, a cheerleader in front of the crowds, marching proudly with the color guard, and gathering friends wherever she went. Her smile could light up a room before she ever spoke, and her warm, easy nature made everyone feel welcome.

Amy loved life deeply and fiercely, and nothing meant more to her than her family. Her daughter Lily and her husband Tom were her world. Amy was a devoted mother, loving partner, and natural caregiver. She was protective, loyal, and endlessly giving. To be loved by Amy was to feel safe and cherished, wrapped in a kind of love that left no doubt.

Creative, artistic, and incredibly smart, Amy expressed beauty in everything she touched, leaving an unmistakable imprint of her love on anything she set her hands or heart to. Whether she was drawing, crafting, or cooking, she could often be heard singing softly around the house, turning simple moments into something warm and memorable. Her kitchen was always filled with the comforting aroma of her cooking, especially her famous casserole, which no one has ever quite been able to recreate. She was also an excellent driver who took pride in teaching others how to confidently handle a five-speed. Known affectionately as a "cat lady," Amy adored animals, especially her beloved Poppy, Curly, Abbott, and Dean.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Freddie Jim Fultz, Alonso and Jimmie Fraley, and by her dear friends, Ashley Jones and Maria Lee.

Amy is survived by a family that will forever cherish her memory: her daughter, Lily Thorpe; her husband, Tom Goff; her grandmother, Mildred Fultz; her mother, Pam Cody (Tim); her father, Robin Fraley (Beth); her sister, Samantha McCloud (Adam); her niece, Audrey McCloud; step-brother James Russell (Jessica); step-sister Heather Russell; along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, many beloved friends, and her treasured cats.

Her absence leaves a space no words can fill, but the love, laughter, and light she shared will forever live on in those who knew her.
