Barbara Henley Tompkins, lovingly known as "Ninny" to her family, passed away peacefully on June 29th, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 5th, 1944, in Kingsport, TN to parents Winnie and Chris Henley.
Barbara was a devoted woman of faith and a true prayer warrior. She was deeply involved in her church and found joy in serving others and sharing her love for God with those around her. Her faith was a foundation of her life, and she touched many people through her kindness, prayers, and encouragement.
Throughout Barbara's life, you could always find her on her porch with a glass of sweet tea sitting in her swing. She enjoyed any kind of parade, holiday or celebration and loved listening to country music. She also loved entertaining and telling animated stories that always captivated her audience.
The daughter of a coal miner and a homemaker, she was raised to help her community however she could.
She was preceded in death by her sister Betty Henley and her brother Harold Henley.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: daughters Janea Musick and Lucretia Davis ( Rick Davis), granddaughters Lily Davis ( Matthew Arvidson) and Avery Krutak (Caleb Krutak), and great granddaughter Wynslett Jane Krutak.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to caregiver Nakisha Salyer and the team at Smokey Mountain Hospice.
Barbara's family will always remember her for her laughter, her strength, her loyalty, her prayers, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her legacy will continue through the lives she touched and the family she loved so deeply.
