Barton Maier Smith

Barton Maier Smith, 86, of Johnson City, TN, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2026.

Barton was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was married 64 years to his loving wife, Wendy and they raised two sons, Bart & Bret. He was affectionately known as the "most wonderful man that I've ever met" by his wife.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Nelson Smith and wife, Ruth Smith; and his brother, Roger Smith.

Those left to cherish Barton's memory are his wife, Wendy Smith; his sons, Bart (Karen) Smith and Bret Smith; his grandchildren, Chris (Olivia) Smith, Katie (Jacob) Berry, Keaton Smith, and Emma (Austin) Howard; and his great-grandchildren, Beckett, Bowen, Huck, Ava, and Hudson.

The family will be having a private Celebration of Life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Washington County Tennessee Humane Society in honor of Barton.
