Billie Jean Reed, 81, of Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
Born in Bluff City, Tennessee, Billie spent most of her life in Kingsport, where she built a home filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family. She met the love of her life, Jerry Reed, and their love grew into a marriage that lasted 55 wonderful years and remained at the center of Billie's life.
Billie was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her family was truly her whole world, and nothing brought her greater happiness than time spent with those she loved.
As the wife of a Sergeant First Class in the United States Army, Billie proudly supported Jerry throughout his military career. Their years together took them to Fort Bragg and Fort Belvoir, where she created a loving home for their family wherever they were stationed. She remained deeply proud of Jerry's service to his country and later supported him during his years of service with the Eastman Fire Department.
Billie had a caring and generous heart. For many years, she volunteered at the school as a nurse, offering comfort and care to countless children. She enjoyed working in her garden, tending to her flowers, and filling her home and yard with beauty. She also loved singing karaoke and was rarely without the companionship of a beloved pet. Over the years, her many animals became treasured members of the family and received the same love and care she so freely gave to everyone around her.
Billie was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Jerry Reed Sr.; her parents, William "Bill" Baker and Mossie Jane Cope Baker; her sisters, Doris Ann Nichols and Barbara Mae Reed; and her brother, Dallas June Cope.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jerry Reed and wife Stephanie; daughter, Brittany Menchaca and husband Marcos; grandchildren, Emma, Annaleigh, and Abraham; sister-in-law, Gwen Ford; brothers-in-law, Jimmy "J.D." Reed and wife Linda, and Dallas Reed; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
There will be no formal services at this time.
