Bobbie Lee Johnson

Bobby Lee Johnson, 83, of Kingsport, Tennessee, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, December 4, 2025, joining his beloved wife and rejoicing in the presence of the Lord.

Born to Kenneth Johnson and Ruby Brown, and later raised by Ruby Ryans and Billy Ryans, Bobby built a life grounded in faith, family, and service. He was a graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School and continued his education at ETSU and the University of Tennessee. Bobby dedicated his professional career to the chemical industry and retired as Head of the Chemical Division at Eastman Chemical Company, where he was respected for his leadership and commitment.

Bobby served honorably in the Army National Guard as a Combat Engineer and carried a deep sense of pride in his military service. A man of steadfast faith, he served as a preacher at Holy Mountain and was a member of St. Timothy Episcopal Church.

Family was the heart of Bobby's life. He is survived by his children, Robert McKinley Johnson Sr., David Ray Johnson, Janet Annette Taylor, and Angie J. Hayes; his sibling, Caroline Browder; and a large and loving family of grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought him immense joy throughout his life.

He will be remembered for his love of football, his enjoyment of travel, and the time he treasured with his children and grandchildren. Those who knew him will forever hold dear his gentle spirit, devotion to family, and unwavering faith.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to attend.
