Caleb Alexander Hodges, 27, of Kingsport, Tennessee, was called home to Heaven on Saturday, April 18, 2026, where a sweet reunion with his beloved sister, Taylor, surely awaited him.
There are some people who leave a mark on this world far bigger than the number of years they are given, and Caleb was one of those people. In his 27 years, he lived fully, loved deeply, worked hard, and gave the people around him a kind of love and loyalty they will never forget.
Caleb was born and raised in Kingsport and spent his whole life in the place he loved, surrounded by the people who meant everything to him. He was a graduate of Gate City High School, Class of 2017, where he was known and loved by many. He played baseball and football and loved sports, but more than anything, people remember the kind of young man he was. His coaches and teachers thought the world of him, and so did everyone else who had the blessing of knowing him.
If you knew Caleb, you knew he loved the outdoors. He was a true outdoorsman at heart. He loved hunting, and some of his best memories were made hunting with his dad. Those times together meant so much to him. He also loved shooting trap, skeet, and sporting clays, and he competed with passion, bringing home many trophies and patches over the years. Whether he was in the woods, on the range, or simply outside doing what he loved, Caleb was happy.
He was a welder by trade, working at BAE and formerly at Crenlo Engineered Cabs, but Caleb was so much more than his job title. He was the kind of man who could fix just about anything. He loved to tinker, figure things out, and work with his hands. He was incredibly mechanical minded and had a gift for building, repairing, and making things work. If something was broken, Caleb could usually fix it. If someone needed help, Caleb was the one they called.
He also had a love for racing that brought him so much joy. Caleb raced with his wife for many years at Kingsport Speedway, and those years were filled with excitement, memories, and a shared love for the sport. It was one of the many things that made him come alive.
But above all else, Caleb was a family man. That was who he was through and through. He loved his wife, Kaley, with his whole heart. In their six years together, including four years of marriage, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion. Their daughter, Hadley, was his world. She brought a light into his life that words can hardly describe. He adored her completely, and anyone who saw them together could see how proud he was to be her daddy. As Hadley turns 2 this June, she will always carry the love of her father with her.
Caleb also shared an incredibly close bond with his parents, Tim and Dawn Hodges. They were as close as family can be, and that love was a defining part of his life. He was proud of his family, loyal to them, and deeply rooted in them. He loved hard, and he loved his people well.
Caleb was outspoken and stubborn, and those who loved him would probably smile hearing that said out loud. But those same strong qualities were matched with a heart that was unbelievably kind. He would do anything for anyone. He had a tender, generous spirit and a goodness about him that made people love him instantly. He had the same kind heart as his dad, and that kindness showed in the way he lived and in the way he loved others. Truly, everybody loved Caleb.
Most importantly, Caleb loved the Lord. He was saved and baptized at the age of 7 at Sullivan Baptist Church and was a member of St. Luke Methodist Church. His faith was part of who he was, and there is comfort in knowing that while his absence leaves a pain too deep for words, he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Taylor; maternal grandparents, Lowell and Rosemary Vicars; paternal grandparents, Shelby and Walter Hodges; uncle, Jamey Hodges; aunt, Jennifer Vicars; and many other beloved relatives.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Kaley; his precious daughter, Hadley; his parents, Tim and Dawn Hodges; his in-laws, Doug and Michelle Bowen; uncles, Chris Vicars and wife Brooke, and Darin Vicars; cousin, Jamey Vicars and daughter Alex; many other relatives; countless close friends and "brothers"; and, of course, his beloved diesel truck, which was such a part of who he was.
Visitation will be held at St. Luke Methodist Church, 2600 E. Center Street, on Wednesday, April 22, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Caleb's Life will follow, with Pastor Ray Amos and Pastor Jeff Strong officiating.
Kingsport Speedway will also honor Caleb with a memorial race on Friday, April 24, at 8:00 p.m where his wife will drive his car around the track in his memory.
Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home, (423) 723-8177, is honored to serve the family. Online condolences may be shared with the family on their website.
