Carol Christine Sams, 81, went to her heavenly home on Monday, June 2, 2025. She was born on December 2, 1943, in Kingsport, Tennessee, to George H. and Mary Lucille Hobbs Judd.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Jack Judd, George Judd Jr., and Ralph Judd.
Carol is survived by one daughter, Stephanie C., and husband, Gregory Yankee; her granddaughter, Danielle, and husband, David Ringley; her grandson, Isaac G. Yankee; and her younger brother, Gary L., and wife, Donna Judd.
Carol worked for Mead Paper/Domtar from February 13, 1974, until retirement. She was the first woman to serve as backtender on the #3 paper machine since the days of WWII.
Carol loved spending time with her family and friends for cookouts, birthdays and the holidays. Her hobbies included creating door wreaths, jigsaw puzzles for framing, ordering flower bulbs for Stephanie to plant, and mischievous adventures with her long time friend and neighbor, Carol Edwards.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Angie, Sandy, NHC-Kingsport, and Amedisys Hospice for taking good care of Carol.
A visitation will be held at Trinity Memorial Centers on Saturday, June 14th, 2025 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Sullivan County Humane Society and Habitat for Humanity in Carol's honor.
