Carson Light

Carson Light, 82, of Rogersville, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. Carson was a proud veteran of the United States Army and a man who truly loved life and the people in it. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, leaving them smiling with his humor and storytelling. Known for his playful spirit, Carson loved to joke and "cut up," bringing joy and laughter wherever he went.

Above all, Carson loved the Lord. He gave his heart to Christ on October 29, 2025, and faithfully spent his time reading the Bible and growing in his faith. His love for his family was unwavering, and he treasured every moment spent with them. He also found great happiness in the simple things- especially the beauty of the mountains, time spent at Beech Creek, and caring for his beloved chickens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Fronie Light; his brothers, Donald (Katherine), Jack (Ruby), James, and Harlan Light; and his sisters, Dorothy Crawford, Vernie (Norman) Compton, Hazel (Ralph) Penley, and Mae (James) Webb.

Carson leaves behind his loving wife of 56 years, Nancy Dean Light; his sons, Johnny Light (Sunshine) and Eddie Casteel (Melissa); his daughters, Annette Jones (Robbie) and Debbie Bellamy (Marty); and his brother, Junior Light (Reba). He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Kevin Jones, Kristen Light (Jordan), Gracie Light (Erik), Michelle Greer, Nathan Noel, Amanda Lane (Derek), Eli Casteel (Haley), and Ethan Casteel; as well as his great-grandchildren, Carson, Ella Jo, Briana, Harley, Cody, Hunter, Nevaeh, and Santana. In addition, he leaves behind several cousins, nieces, nephews, great-great-grandchildren, and many dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church, 3711 Beech Creek Road, Rogersville, Tennessee. Service will follow at 4:00 PM, with Graveside services immediately afterward.

Officiants will be Pete Smith, Ed Maynard, and Tim Jarrett. Honorary pallbearers will be Junior Light, Doug Jenkins, Danny Dykes, Michael Dykes, Randall Compton, Haskell Rines, Ronnie Rines, Tommy Lucas, Barbara Swecker, Kathy Lucas, Brenda Little, Angela Webb, Lisa Brewer, Mitzi Holt, Jimmy Light, Robert Light, and Greg Brewer.

Friends and family are welcome to visit at the Light residence, 316 Light Road in Rogersville, where Nancy and the family will be receiving guests at any time.
