Cathy Ann Strickler

Cathy Ann Strickler (née Thompson), age 62, born in California and raised in Chicago, passed away on January 28, 2026, in Tennessee, where she had made her home for many years.

Cathy was a devoted mother to three children: Teresa Strickler, Jamie Strickler, and Leana Burton. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Teresa in October of 2020. She is survived by her son Jamie Strickler (40) and his wife Miranda Strickler, and their daughters Abigail Strickler and Kylee Hutton; and by her daughter Leana Burton (35) and her husband Josh Burton, and their children Joshua Burton, Lellane Burton, Jaylen Leavens, Pierson Strickler, Caybren Burton, and August Burton.

She is also survived by the children of her late daughter Teresa: Seth York, Kelsie Yokley, Aiden Yokley, and Alexander Schuman, and her great-grandson Jacob York.

Cathy is further survived by her older sister Debra Zanes and her husband Edward Zanes, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Cathy loved the outdoors and had a lifelong love of sunshine and summer. She enjoyed catching a tan, swimming at Boone Dam in her younger years, playing pool, listening to classic rock, and loved nothing more than to let her hair down, laugh, and genuinely enjoy life. Above all, she loved to be surrounded by people and have a good time.

She passed away due to respiratory failure as a result of end-stage COPD. Though her health declined, her spirit, humor, and love for life never truly faded.

Cathy will be remembered for her free spirit, her love of fun, and the deep love she had for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. She leaves behind a family who will carry her memory in their hearts always.

Graveside services will be announced at a later date, as well as a Celebration of Life.
