Charles "Charlie" Carl Burton II, age 56, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.
Charlie was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and from a young age, he lived life full throttle-working hard, laughing often, and loving deeply. At just 18 years old, he began his lifelong career with Nickels and Dimes Family Amusements, where he proudly served as Regional Manager. Over nearly four decades, Charlie became a cornerstone of the company, known for his strong work ethic, leadership, and ability to turn any moment into one worth smiling about.
Though his work kept him traveling, Charlie's heart was always at home. He treasured time with his family-especially his sons, whose lives he poured himself into. He adored hearing stories about his grandchildren and found immense pride in the legacy he was building through them. An avid outdoorsman, Charlie loved to hunt, fish, play golf, and spend time at Cherokee Rod and Gun Club, where he found both camaraderie and peace. His sense of humor was legendary; he had a gift for making people laugh, often turning even the simplest stories into unforgettable moments.
Charlie's greatest joy in life was his wife, Kristy. Their love story began like something out of a novel-meeting in Lynchburg while Charlie was on a work trip. He knew she was "the one" from the moment he saw her, and she felt exactly the same. Their love was deep, genuine, and unshakable-a bond built on laughter, loyalty, and complete devotion.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Carl Burton I, and his beloved grandparents, John "Pop" and Phyllis Burton.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 16 years, Kristy Burton; sons, Mason Burton (and wife Jordan), Chandler Burton, and Niko Burton; step-son, Michael Sexton; grandchildren, Wraith Axyl, Amelia Rae, and Evangeline Jane; step-granddaughter, Arianna; mother, Jerrie Burton King; brother, C.J.; sisters, Jenny and Raelynn; special uncle, Ross Burton; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends, including Tim and Connie Clark, Kevin Jordan, Kevin Kamphuis, James and Jennifer King. Also missing him dearly is his beloved dog, Zoey.
A visitation will be held on Monday, June 16th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Trinity Memorial Centers in Kingsport, followed by a Celebration of Life to honor the laughter, love, and legacy Charlie leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charlie's honor to the Cherokee Rod and Gun Club Youth Programs, which support the outdoor traditions he so deeply cherished: <https://www.cherokeerodandgunclub.com/>
