Clyde "Tiny" Wilson, age 87, of Bristol, Tennessee, peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Ballad Hospice House.
Born on February 22, 1939, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Clyde was the son of the late Arthur and Madie Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings; his beloved first wife of 54 years, Betty Jean Wilson; his second wife, Laura Wilson; and his son, Clyde Wilson Jr.
Clyde faithfully served his country in the United States Army Reserves from 1957 to 1965. A man of strong work ethic and humble spirit, he spent his life serving others through many occupations, including masonry and janitorial work. Before retiring, he worked at Stonewall Jackson Elementary School, where he became affectionately known to many as "Mr. Clyde." His life was marked by kindness, unwavering faith, heartfelt storytelling, and a joyful laughter that touched all who knew him.
Above all, Clyde was a devoted servant of God and a faithful member of Bethel Apostolic Church. He pastored Old Time Pentecostal Church in Lynch Station, Virginia, for five years, ministering with compassion and conviction. He also dedicated several years to prison ministry, where he shared the Gospel and baptized many in the precious name of Jesus Christ.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his sister, Carol Downes; his son, Jesse Wilson and wife, Hope; his grandchildren, Brittany Still and husband Doug, and Seth Wilson; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He also leaves behind his faithful companion, Molly, his beloved Goldendoodle.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Bethel Apostolic Church in Kingsport, Tennessee. A Celebration of Life service will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Craig Long officiating.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. William McCormick, the staff of Bristol Regional Medical Center, and Ballad Hospice House for the compassionate care, kindness, and dignity shown to Clyde during his final days.
