David Steven Fleenor, 63, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2026, after several years of declining health. He passed peacefully in his sleep, with his sister Connie by his side.
Dave was born in Kingsport, TN on November 8, 1962, to the late Tommy and Dorothy Fleenor. He was a 1981 graduate of Sullivan North High School. He was a fork lift operator by trade.
Dave was the prankster of the family, with his mischievous wit and humor. Dave was especially close to his sister Traci. In their younger years, Dave would tease her until she cried, and then he was satisfied! He enjoyed grilling out for his family, and making his famous Dave's pizza, overloaded with meat and cheese, lol, but we never complained! He loved Mom's cherry-o cream pie, but he didn't like the cherries. So the cherries had to be pushed to one side, and the cherry-less side was all his!
Dave was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan, amassing an impressive Nascar and Earnhardt collection. He liked helping Dad with his mowers and vehicles. The two of them could often be seen hauling mowers around in each of their trucks. Dave especially enjoyed just sitting out in the garage with Dad in the evenings.
Dave did have a soft side. We always said that there was a teddy bear under all of that gruff! He had a silly side too.
All who knew Dave were sure of these things: He rarely changed his mind. He loved a good joke. He was loyal. He was stubborn. He was a man of few words. He was a proud man who didn't like to ask for help, but he never made a fuss over helping others. He had a good heart.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Joe and Naomi Davis, paternal grandparents Thomas and Mildred Fleenor, aunt Phyllis Cox, uncles Ed DeZarn, Bill Davis, Lyle Davis, and Bobby Fleenor, and several cousins.
Left to mourn his passing are his sisters, Connie (Tim) Fletcher and Traci Gentry, brother Scott Fleenor, niece Hannah Gentry, nephew Jeffrey Gentry, aunts and uncles Carolyn and Bob Jarvis, Louise DeZarn, John Fleenor, and Donna (Dave) Sensabaugh, several cousins, and special friend Laney Chitwood.
Trinity Memorial Center is serving the family. Dave's wish was to be cremated. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
