David Wayne Hutchins

David Wayne Hutchins, 67, of Kingsport, TN, was reunited with his heavenly family on Monday, April 20, 2026.

David found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending his time fishing, and at home, he cherished the companionship of his beloved cat, Pumpkin. A devoted sports fan, David was an especially a huge supporter of Tennessee Volunteers football. He also enjoyed sitting outside, sharing stories and laughter while with his neighbors.

David was deeply loved by all who knew him. Affectionately called Papaw by many, he embraced that role with pride.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Hutchins and Mary Barnette; his sisters, Linda Ferguson and Betty East; his special niece and friend, Tammy Dixon; his nephews, Billy Dixon and Michael East; and his nieces, Elizabeth & Angela East; as well as both sets of grandparents.

Those left to cherish David's memory are his daughter, Khristen Hartgrove; his granddaughter, Ka'Liyah Hartgrove; his son, Jason Hartgrove; his brother, Leroy Hutchins; his special family friend, Margie Nichols; his special niece, Ashley (Ronald) Whiteside; as well as several other nieces and nephews.
