Deborah Ann O'Connell, lovingly known to all as Debbie, passed away on December 29th, 2025, surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life. Debbie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose kindness and selflessness left a lasting imprint on everyone who knew her. She was a beacon of light that will be missed.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years, Robert O'Connell; her daughter, Lynn O'Connell, and son-in-law, Thomas Poole; her son, Thomas O'Connell; and her cherished granddaughter, Serenity O'Connell, who was the light of her life. She is also survived by her sister, Cynthia Kish, and brother, Timothy Cendrosky.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Cendrosky and Cis Cendrosky.
Debbie held close a wide circle of family and chosen family who meant the world to her, including her nieces Allyson Kish and Amanda Mathes (Kish), her nephew Aaron Kish, and her surrogate children, Cynthia Kinard and Heather Davidson, whom she loved as her own.
Debbie was a proud graduate of Lorain High School, Class of 1976, and later completed the Practical Nursing Program at Lorain County Community College in 1979. After moving to Summerville, South Carolina, she built a long and dedicated career with Walmart, where she worked faithfully for 28 years before retiring. Following her relocation to Church Hill, Tennessee, in September 2024, Debbie found joy in her work at Hobby Lobby, where she truly enjoyed each day. Her strong work ethic, dependability, and genuine care for others were evident in all that she did.
Above all, Debbie will be remembered as the most loving and giving person-someone who always went above and beyond to make those around her feel cared for, supported, and happy. Her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and friends will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
A remembrance service will be held at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, located at 584 Lebanon Road, Kingsport, Tennessee 37663, on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in the fellowship hall following the service, where food and beverages will be provided.
