Don Lee Ewing, 72, of Church Hill, TN, passed away with his family by his side on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

Born and raised in Waycross, Georgia, Don graduated from high school before proudly answering the call to serve his country by joining the United States Navy. During his military service, he met the love of his life, Carol, shortly after completing boot camp. Don faithfully served for 21 years before retiring from the Navy.

Following his military career, Don continued serving his community as a bus driver for the Lisbon School Department in Maine. After retiring once again, he and Carol made their home in East Tennessee, where Don came to realize his love of the horses his wife and daughter urged him to buy. Soon after that, the horses were his pride and joy, and he found great happiness caring for them and spending time outdoors.

Preceded by his mother, Lillian Cook; his stepfather, James Waters; and his grandmother, Gussie Smith.

Those left to cherish Don's memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Carol Ewing; and his daughters, Jennifer Ewing and Melissa Ewing; as well as many special friends, family, and neighbors.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Don's honor be made to Southern California Mini Horse Sanctuary (socalmini.org) or Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue (gentlegiantsdrafthorserescue.org).
