Elizabeth "Beth" Hernandez, 48, of Johnson City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Beth was a graduate of Sullivan South High School. She was known for her strong work ethic, determined spirit, and the kind of humor that could bring light into even the hardest days. She worked hard throughout her life, but she never lost her ability to laugh, smile, and make others feel at ease.
For many years, Beth and her mother, Rhonda, owned and operated a house cleaning business together. More recently, Beth began working part time as a cashier at Murphy USA, where her dedication, dependability, and natural leadership quickly stood out. In a short time, she was promoted to store manager in Bristol, Tennessee, a reflection of the care and pride she put into everything she did.
Above all, Beth loved her family. She was a devoted mother, a proud grandmother, a loving daughter, and a faithful friend. She had a sweet and caring heart and was the kind of person who would help anyone if she could. Whether it was her family, her friends, or neighbors in need, Beth gave of herself with kindness and compassion. Her life was one of love, service, laughter, and quiet strength.
Beth's passing leaves a deep ache in the hearts of all who knew and loved her, but her family takes comfort in knowing that her pain is gone and that she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Ryan Hernandez; brother, Teddy Lee Hass; aunt, Donna Sue Kern; and uncle, Robert Matheny.
Those left to cherish Beth's memory include her son, Matthew Johnson and fiancée Amburlea Moser; daughters, Kaitlyn Hughes and husband Dustin, and Camrie Perrier; grandchildren, Isabella Witt, Raelynn Perrier, and William Perrier; parents, Rhonda Matheny Hass and Glenn Lee Hass; aunt, Linda Matheny; best friend, Tonya; and many other family members, friends, and loved ones.
The family will receive friends at Trinity Memorial Centers on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow with Pastor Scott Young officiating.
Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home is honored to serve the Hernandez family. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.trinitymemorialcenters.com.
