Elmer Eugene Adams Sr.

June 6, 1939 — September 24, 2024

Elmer Gene Adams Sr., 85, of Abingdon, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2024. He was born on June 6, 1939, in Damascus, Virginia, to a large, loving family with 13 brothers and sisters. Though they had little in the way of material possessions, they were rich in love and support for one another, a foundation that shaped the remarkable man Elmer would become.

While working in Maryland, Elmer met the love of his life, and it was clear from the start that they were destined for one another. After a year of marriage, they welcomed their first child, Debbie, followed by their sons Gene Jr. a year later, and John three years after that. As their family grew, they returned to Virginia when Debbie was around 10 years old. There, Elmer and his wife adopted and raised two more sons, Donavin and Bryan, expanding the circle of love even further.

Elmer was a hardworking man who made sure his family always had what they needed. His laughter filled their home, and his playful sense of humor made him the beloved jokester of the family. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, a trait shaped by his humble beginnings.

There was no one stronger, more giving, or more devoted than Elmer Adams. His strength of character and selflessness left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He is survived by his loving children, Debbie Adams, Gene Adams Jr., John Adams, Donavin Adams, and Bryan Adams, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends. His memory will forever live on in our hearts.

Dad, we miss you so much and cherish the time we had with you. You were the rock of our family, and we will carry your love and spirit with us always.

In Loving Memory, Your daughter, Debbie Adams.

Elmer will be remembered for his love, laughter, and unshakable strength.
