Gertrude Emily Purdy, 83, passed away at her home on October 25, 2026, leaving behind a large, loving family and countless others whose lives she touched.
Born on September 3, 1943, to the late Stephen and Genevieve Stone, Gertrude became a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose love reached far beyond her own children. She helped raise many children throughout her life, offering comfort, guidance, and a place to belong. To so many, she felt like home-a familiar face, a welcoming heart, and someone they could always turn to.
Her family was not defined only by blood, but also by the many people she welcomed into her life and loved as her own. The children she helped raise carry pieces of her with them in the lessons she taught, the memories they share, and the love they pass on. She was loved by so many because she made so many feel loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Glen Lee Purdy Jr. her brothers Steve and Joseph Stone and grandson David Purdy.
Gertrude is survived by her three children, Glen Norman Purdy, Selene Dawn Clark and Sally Britt Long; her grandchildren First born Ashlee Osburn, Thomas Lamatrice, Tony Purdy, Dominic Lamatrice, Rocco Lamatrice, and Brittany Glazier and her many treasured great-grandchildren.
Gertrude leaves a space that no one else can fill, but her love remains woven into the family she raised and the many lives she helped shape. She will be remembered in familiar stories, in laughter shared through tears, and in the everyday moments that bring her close again.
Forever loved, deeply missed, and always a part of home.
