Blountville, TN

Gina "Susan" Leonard, 69, of Blountville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Susan was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend whose warmth filled every room she entered. She was fiercely proud of her family and found her greatest joy in being together, especially when she was hosting. Holidays at The Leonard Mansion were legendary. Thanksgiving and Christmas meant a full home, plenty of laughter, and her famous homemade rolls, a recipe the family will lovingly admit can never quite be duplicated.

She spent 25 years as a legal secretary with Wright and Cate Attorneys, a career she took great pride in and approached with dedication, professionalism, and care for everyone she worked with. Known for her outgoing personality and infectious spirit, Susan was truly the life of the party. She never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone, making friends wherever she went. All of our lives were a little brighter with Susan's light shining within them.

A lifelong resident of Kingsport and the surrounding area, Susan's roots ran deep in this community. In 1973, she met the love of her life, Harlow Leonard, while cruising Broad Street. Their love story became the foundation of her life. Married for 38 years, Susan and Harlow were inseparable, sharing everything and doing life side by side. Her love for him never faded.

Outside of family and work, Susan enjoyed sewing, gardening, reading a "trashy romance novel", shopping, and spending time at the beach. Whether tending her garden, planning a family gathering, or enjoying a sunny day by the ocean, she embraced life fully and joyfully.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Harlow Leonard; her mother, Betty Carroll; her brothers, Sammy and Eddie Carroll; and her son-in-law, Erik Bennett; Father in Law Gerald Leonard; Sister and Brother-in-law Sharon and Gerald Edwards.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Heather Bennett, Matthew Leonard and wife Laura, and Josh Leonard; her sister, Traci Carroll; nieces and nephews, Charles Carroll, Brandon Carroll, Bryan Carroll, Amanda Carroll, Lucas Carroll-Garrett, and Benjamin Carroll-Garrett; her sister-in-law, Kaye Carroll-Matheson; her aunt and uncle, Wayne and Jane Campbell; special friend Joyce Johnson-Main; and her beloved Cocker Spaniel, Sadie.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan's memory to the GoFundMe established to assist with final expenses please use the link below.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Crishyra, Tony, and the rest of the staff at Gentiva Hospicef for the compassion, kindness, and care shown to Susan and her loved ones.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Suze has left the building.
