Heather Marie McQuade Wood, 51, only daughter and child of Ronald J. and Paulette A. McQuade, passed away from this life and went to her heavenly home with her Lord Jesus Christ on April 27, 2025. After 3 years of battling cancer, she passed away in her own home surrounded by loved ones: her mother Paulette, her two sons, Jacob and Garrett, and her daughter-in-law Mikala.
Heather has lived in many different places, originally being born in Terre Haute, Indiana. She moved to various places before settling in Greeneville, TN where she attended West Greene High School and had two sons, Jacob McQuade and Garrett Wood, after having married Randy Wood. She spent most of her adult years in Elizabethton, TN and moved to Bristol, TN where she bought her first home (she was very happy that she was able to buy it herself). She loved her family and always put family first before her own needs and was always there for her sons. She was a stay at home mother until her boys were both out of high school.
She had a passion for dogs. Ever since she was a little girl she loved dogs but in general she loved animals owning various breeds and species of animals. Heather showed dogs and finished a few in her 20s and 30s. She liked doing agility with her dogs. If there was a sport for a dog she has most likely done it. At the end of the day she loved her dogs as true companions.
Heather also had a passion for family and God. After her divorce she dedicated a lot of her life to God, always growing her faith every day. Everyone who knew her knew she grew a lot spiritually and as a person. Heather was a very kind hearted gentle woman who loved everyone and treated them as such. She enjoyed her friends' company and usually there wasn't a day that passed that she didn't talk to them.
Heather was preceded by her father, Ronald J. Mcquade. She is survived by her mother, Paulette A. McQuade; her sons, Jacob J. McQuade and Garrett J. Wood. She is also survived by all that loved her including her extended family, the Smith family from Greeneville, TN, the Primeau family from New York State, friends, and her dearest friend, Angie, along with Angie's daughters whom she always thought of as family. Heather was a kind, charismatic woman who brought smiles and laughter to all those around her. She was a strong, and a strong-willed person and when she got sick she became very stubborn against it. Not a day went past that she did not fight against her illness. She has been a blessing for a lot of people. Her smile and laughter will truly be missed. She will be missed as a daughter, mother, friend, and as a person. I am glad that she was our mother.
