Howard Doran Jr.

Howard Doran, age 66, of Blountville, TN, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at his cherished homestead where he lived his entire life.

Born and raised in Blountville, Howard was a man who valued hard work, family, and simple pleasures. For 40 years, he worked faithfully at Avis, where he was known for his dedication and dependability. Outside of work, Howard had a deep love for hot rods-especially his pride and joy, a red 1977 Z28 Camaro that he restored piece by piece over the years. When he got behind the wheel, folks said he looked just like Richard Petty, cruising with his signature style and a grin that matched the rumble of the engine.

Howard also enjoyed boating, fishing, and found peace in keeping his property well-mowed and cared for. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, and a steady, loving presence to those around him. He and his wife, Carolyn, shared 43 years together-39 of them as husband and wife-building a life rooted in love and loyalty.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Marie Doran.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Smallwood) Doran; son, JR Doran and wife Marie; daughter, Summer Price; grandchildren, Ethan, Zoey, Madison, Jonathon, and Zade; great-granddaughter, Octavia; siblings, David, Shirley, Liz, Pam, and Karen; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly.

The family extends special thanks to the team at Carris Healthcare-Courtney, Sarah, Gina, and Nick-for their compassionate care during Howard's final days.
