Jack William Stallard, 76, of Bristol, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family and friends who meant so much to him.
Born on April 27, 1950, in Abingdon, Virginia, Jack lived a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and quiet service to others. He was the son of the late James and Lucille Stallard and was preceded in death by his siblings, Brenda Bays, Jimmy Stallard, and Lee Stallard.
Jack leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue through those who cherished him most. He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Joyce Stallard; his son, Michael Stallard, and daughter-in-law, Carie Stallard; and his two precious granddaughters, Emma Stallard and Molly Stallard, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He is also survived by his loving sisters, Mildred Stewart, Wanda Russo, and Nancy Yarborough; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ronnie and Carrie Booher, Richard Molenaar, Darlene Molenaar, Franklin Yarborough, Brenda Stallard, and Mariet Molenaar; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
For more than 30 years, Jack dedicated himself to his work at Strongwell, where he was employed from June 16, 1983, until his retirement on January 17, 2014. He approached his work with the same integrity, dedication, and humility that defined every aspect of his life.
A man of many talents and passions, Jack was an accomplished gardener who took tremendous pride in cultivating a bountiful garden, especially his beloved heirloom tomatoes. He found peace and satisfaction in working the soil and sharing the fruits of his labor with family, friends, and neighbors. He also enjoyed canning salsa, green beans, and jalapeños alongside Joyce, creating traditions and memories that will be treasured forever.
Jack was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. Some of his happiest moments were spent in the woods, on the water, or simply enjoying nature with his son, granddaughters, and friends. He especially enjoyed fishing for trout, crappie, and walleye, and cherished the time spent sharing those experiences with family and lifelong friends. Whether teaching a lesson, sharing a story, or quietly waiting for a bite, he made every moment meaningful. He was also a devoted Virginia Tech football fan and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Hokies.
Jack had a special love for animals, especially his faithful dog, Brownie. Brownie was a constant companion and brought him great comfort, joy, and friendship. The bond they shared reflected Jack's gentle heart and his capacity to love deeply.
Above all else, Jack was a man of deep and abiding Christian faith. His relationship with the Lord guided his life and shaped the way he treated others. He was caring, supportive, thoughtful, and selfless-a man who was always thinking of the needs of those around him before considering his own. Though quiet and reflective by nature, he possessed a quick wit and gentle sense of humor that brought smiles to those fortunate enough to know him.
Jack's greatest joy was his family. He loved deeply and unconditionally, providing steady support, wise counsel, and unwavering encouragement throughout his life. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud papaw, a cherished brother, uncle, and loyal friend. The example he set through his faith, kindness, humility, and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a celebration of Jack's life to follow at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Steve Collins, at Trinity Memorial Centers Funeral Home, 1221 Stewball Circle, Kingsport, Tennessee 37660.
While our hearts grieve his absence, we find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior. His life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love a gift that will remain with us forever.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:23
