James Henry Murray

James "John" Henry Murray Jr, 70, of Bristol, VA, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023, due to a long battle with cancer.
John was born and raised in Bristol, Virginia. He proudly served in the US Marines and served in the Vietnam War. John was a father, a grandfather, and friend to many. He was kind and honorable and would give the shirt off of his back to anybody that needed it.
He is survived by his son, Johnny Allen (Melissa) Murray, daughter, Angela (Tyler) Henderson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Elvis Scottie Murray; sister, Sally; several nieces and nephews including, Denise Iman and George Murray; care-giver and friend, Sherrie Gatliff; significant other, Lynn Hamm; nurse and friend, Ashley.
A Celebration of Life is being planned, with dates and times to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, the Murray requests that donations in John's name be made to Mountain Home VA Hospital.
