James Patton Lane

James Patton Lane, 70, of Kingsport, TN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

James was born on June 18, 1955, and lived a simple, hardworking life rooted in love for his family and the outdoors. He found his greatest joy spending time in nature-hunting, fishing, and appreciating the quiet moments life had to offer. A man of few words but a big heart, James was known for his gentle spirit, steady hands, and unwavering dedication to those he cared about.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Delcie Lane; his sister, Lois; and his brothers, Johnny Lane and Jerry Lane.

James is survived by his children, Samantha Dines, Tabitha Singleton, Joe Freeman, and Travis Lane; grandchildren, Isaac Brown, Emily Brown, Robbie Dines, Ju'Tana Hickman, and De'Lonte Lane; special nieces, Kayla Collier, Kennedy, Kingsley, and Karson; sisters, Joyce Smith, Betty Cline, and Nancy Fry; brothers, Zeke Lane and Billy Lane; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.
