In Loving Memory of Janet Francis Ammeen

Janet Francis Ammeen, 90, passed from this life, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, a family who adored her, and countless people whose lives were touched by her kindness, wisdom, faith, and unconditional love.

Born November 16, 1935, in Cranberry, Avery, North Carolina, Janet grew up in Louisa, Virginia, with her mother and father, Fay Calhoun Sparks and Ralph Sparks, and her siblings. Those early years helped shape the woman she would become-strong, graceful, wise, and deeply devoted to the people she loved.

Janet was a God-fearing woman whose faith was an important part of her life. She was a member of Riner's Tabernacle in Kingsport, TN.

Janet was a longtime resident of Sullivan County, Tennessee, where she and her late husband, Paul Ammeen, shared many years together and ran the LaBristro Lounge in Blountville, Tennessee. The lounge became more than a place of business. It was a place where friendships were made, stories were shared, and countless people came to know and love Janet.

Janet had many friends who adored her. She was polite, graceful, full of wisdom, and kind beyond measure. She had a quiet strength about her and a way of making people feel welcome and cared for.

Her love could be felt in the way she spoke to you, worried about you, remembered the little things, and stood beside the people she cared about. Her love was steadfast, generous, and unconditional.

To her family, Janet was so much more than a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a part of the very heart of the family-the keeper of wisdom, memories, stories, and traditions and the hostess of the feasts. Her love connected generations, and the lessons she taught will continue long after her passing.

Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Ammeen; her daughter, Sharon Goldstein; and her siblings, Rose Whited and Tommy Sparks. She leaves behind her daughter, Cindy Tucker, her spouse, Jim, and her son, Henry Staley, his spouse, Kate; her grandchildren, Shannon Feathers, Vandi Goldstein, Adam Goldstein, and Seth Taylor and his spouse, Lisa; great-grandchildren, Chyeann Cunningham, Granger Insco, Easten Beierle, Savannah Johnson, Emily Hingle, Dalton Feathers, Jaden Goldstein; great-great-grandchildren, Bailey, Brigette, and Braxton Johnson; Bentley and Casey Johnson; Lyla, Emersyn, and Oakley Goldstein, and Marcella Chamberlain.

She is also survived by her brother, Joe Sparks, and his wife, Carolyn.

There are some people who leave this world and are remembered for what they accomplished. Janet will be remembered for how she made people feel.

And for those lucky enough to have been loved by Janet, that love will never truly leave.

We will all carry her in our hearts, in our memories.

The greatest part of Janet's legacy: she taught generations of her family what it means to love with your whole heart.

Until we meet again, may we remember Janet not only with tears, but with gratitude-for every moment, every lesson, every story, every smile, and every bit of love she gave so freely.

Rest peacefully, Janet.

You were deeply loved. You will be deeply missed.

And you will never, ever be forgotten.

Your earthly work is finished, but your love will live on through your family for generations to come.
