Jason Alexander Duby, 54, of Kingsport, TN, passed peacefully with his family by his side after fighting a battle with cancer and its complications on Friday, March 21, 2025.
Born in Albia, Iowa, Jason (known to many as Jay or Duby) made East Tennessee his home after his family relocated to Knoxville in 1981 - just in time to enjoy the 1982 World Fair. He attended the University of Tennessee where he met his soulmate and wife, Heather.
Jason was known for his love of animals, anime, bad horror movies, worse sci-fi, and all things related to Godzilla. He was a gentle giant with a quick wit and a quicker kind word for all who knew him.
Jason was preceded in death by his mother- and father-in-law; his father; his step-father; his maternal and paternal grandparents; his aunt; and his uncle.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 29 years, Heather, and their furbabies, Hermione, Trjegul, and Phoebe; his mother, Janet Watt; his brother, Ian Watt; several cousins; and countless friends.
Jason's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Tyson Park shelter 1 in Knoxville, Tennessee from 3-6pm. Attendees are invited to wear their nerdiest attire.
