Jimmy Charles Jones passed away peacefully on Sept 22nd, 2026. He is survived by his three children; Sarah Troxell, Zack Troxell, and Cassidy Smith as well as his two grandchildren Kain and Eli Smith.
He was raised by his loving parents, Margaret and Charles Jones, and spent his childhood in a farm setting learning to fish and hunt alongside his brother and sister, Mark and Sue.
He leaves behind many fond memories of his love of music that flowed through him. He was highly skilled with the guitar and spent much of his time with his cherished friend and fellow Grateful Dead aficionado, Jerry Sutherland. He spent 23 years with the mother of his children, Laura Barrowman, raising them with love and compassion. His music rippled through their lives as well as deep respect for nature and his love for cooking and healthy eating. He found love again in his later years with his significant other, Susie Green and together they travelled to many beautiful places and shared many wonderful adventures together.
Though he faced a difficult battle against cancer, he never spoke many words of complaint and remained strong and dignified through his battle. He was a fiercely self sufficient and independent man but loved the people in his life to no end.
Our family would especially like to thank his doctor, Dr. Bradley Beemer who never gave up on him and whom Jim always spoke highly of.
There are many ways a person can leave a legacy and for all the people whose lives he touches will never forget his.
His oldest daughter, Sarah, had a rambunctious childhood on the James H. Drew Exposition alongside her Dad in the game booths. It came naturally to want to emulate him and she would often help out by calling people in to play the games as she saw him do.
His middle child, Zackariah, remembers the example he set of the kind of man he taught him to become and he is proud to be his son.
His youngest daughter, Cassidy, fondly remembers many camping trips together and visiting hiking trails where wild ponies ran and blueberries grew with abandon. her children, Kain and Eli, were lucky enough to live near him for many years sharing in his knowledge and life experiences. His love of music and the natural world will carry on in our hearts forever.
"May the winds blow him safely home."
