Joe Junior Musser, 93, of Bristol, TN, passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026.

Joe was born in Abingdon, Virginia on May 9th, 1932 to the late Joe and Josie Musser. Joe is preceded in death by his wife Lois Musser of Bristol, Tennessee.

Joe is survived by his son's Joey Musser and wife Debbie Musser of Bristol, Virginia and Dee Musser and wife Linda Musser of Blountville, Tennessee.

Two grandchildren Hannah Musser of Kingsport; Cody Musser and wife Jackie Musser of Blountville, Tennessee. One great grandson Blayne Spencer of Kingsport, Tennessee.

Joe served in the United States Air Force from 1948-1952 and was stationed in Puerto Rico and Mexico. After returning home and marrying his wife Lois in 1952, Joe worked for Monroe Industries before going to work for the Bristol, Tennessee Police Department in 1963. Joe had a lustrous 25 year career with the Police Department obtaining the rank of Captain. Joe had many acclimates during his career as a police officer, ranging from Police Officer of the Year to the arrest of several individuals in high profile cases. Joe started the first Drug Awareness Classes in the Bristol Tennessee School System in 1967. Joe also served his community coaching baseball for 10 years at Western Little League, and 11 years as a football and basketball coach at Rosemont Elementary School. After retiring in 1987 from the Police Department, Joe also served 15 years as a Work Release Commissioner for the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office. Joe always loved his job as a Bristol Tennessee Police Officer and serving his community as a coach and mentor for young men growing up in the community.

All are invited to Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home and Memorial Park (Tri-Cities Airport), 2630 TN-75, Blountville, Tennessee 37617, on Friday, January 16, 2026. The Receiving of Friends and Family will be held from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM.
