Jose M. Mayen, 75, of Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at 10:06 a.m.

Jose was born in Guatemala on March 19, 1951, where he met his beautiful wife, Maria. Together, they later welcomed their only daughter, Marlen, into the world. A year later, they moved to Miami, Florida, where they bought their first home and began building a life and family together.

Jose was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to providing for the people he loved. He worked hard to make sure his family had what they needed and did everything he could to ensure that no one went without. He took pride in working hard and being someone his family could always count on. No matter what life brought their way, he did his best to provide, protect, and be there for the people he loved.

As the years went by, Jose was blessed to become a grandfather and, later, a great-grandfather. His family continued to grow, and his love and presence became part of the lives of multiple generations. He was always there for his family, through the good times and the difficult ones. Whether someone needed help, support, or simply someone to count on, Jose did his best to be there. He never wanted to see his loved ones go without, and he worked hard throughout his life to make sure they were taken care of.

Like anyone, Jose had his own personality. He could have a little temper, be grumpy, and definitely stubborn at times, but underneath that tough exterior was a man with a great heart and he was actually very funny and he loved to be silly. Those who knew him understood that, despite his stubborn moments, he cared deeply about his family and the people in his life. His actions often spoke louder than his words, and the way he worked hard and showed up for others was one of the ways he expressed his love.

After the passing of his beloved wife, Maria, Jose's health began to decline. Losing the woman he had shared so much of his life with took a great deal from him, and over time, his health continued to deteriorate. He faced many difficult days as his pain grew harder to bear. After everything he had endured, his suffering eventually became too much, and his health continued to decline until his final days.

Jose leaves behind a family who will forever remember his hard work, his generosity, his strong personality, and the many ways he was there for them. His life was built around providing for others, opening his home, and making sure the people he loved were taken care of. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created and the love he gave will continue to live on through his daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all those whose lives he touched.

Jose is survived by his daughter, Marlen; his grandchildren; his great-grandchildren; and other loving family members who will cherish his memory and carry his legacy forward.

As per his wishes, no formal funeral or memorial service will be held.

The family appreciates the love, support, and condolences of everyone who knew and loved Jose.
