Joseph Lee Sexton Jr., 72, of Bristol, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Born with a craftsman's spirit and a heart full of kindness, Joseph was a jack of all trades, with a special passion for woodworking. He built cabinets, shelves, and even ran his own woodworking business. Whether it was a home project or helping a neighbor, he was always ready with a solution-and a Pepsi in hand.
Joseph began his career in 1971 as a welder for Ford Motor Company, where he worked faithfully until retiring in 1995. He moved from Michigan to Bristol, TN, where he built a life rooted in family, friendship, and quiet generosity. He was known as "Papa" to his grandchildren and as a friend to all who met him. His gentle nature and ability to make anyone feel welcome left a lasting impression on those around him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 24 years, Tammy Sexton; his parents, Joseph Lee Sexton Sr. and Betty Ann Sexton (Jaynes); and his son, Christopher Joseph Sexton.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Heather Collings; grandchildren, Charlie, Logan, Jayde, Camryn, Kaleb, and Johanna; brothers, Jeff, John, Jim, Jarrett, and Jerald; sisters, Carolyn and Caytee; along with many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.
