Larry Dotson, 67, of Pennington Gap, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
Larry was born in Chicago, Illinois, and after completing school, he moved to Roanoke, Virginia. He later settled in the Bristol, Virginia area, where he spent most of his life and built lasting relationships within the community.
Larry was a man who found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. He was a devoted fan of the Chicago Bears and loved watching football, especially when he could share those moments with his son. He had a strong work ethic and a generous heart, often working on cars to help others whenever he could. Known for his love of cleanliness and pride in his work, Larry served as a janitor at several schools and later worked at Outback Steakhouse in Bristol, Virginia, where he was employed for over a decade.
Those who knew Larry will remember his infectious humor and warm personality. He had a way of making people laugh and feel at ease, and he was truly a people person. Larry was fun loving, kind spirited, and someone who left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He was a blessing to many.
Music was another joy in Larry's life. He enjoyed playing the guitar, singing along to his favorite songs, and filling car rides with music and laughter. Above all, Larry was a family man. He loved his son dearly and treasured the time they spent together, whether traveling, talking, or simply enjoying each other's company.
Larry's faith was central to his life. He loved God and was deeply connected to his church family at New Hope Baptist Church in Bristol, Virginia, where he found fellowship, strength, and peace.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Riley Dotson and Mary Dotson, and by his sister, Josie Jones.
He is survived by his son, Isiah Porter; his sisters, Ruby Nell Dotson and Ruth Yvonne Perkins; his brother, Riley Dotson Jr.; and several beloved cousins.
There will be no formal service.
