Linda Darlene Shoemaker

Linda "Darlene" Shoemaker, known by most simply as Darlene, was born on March 9, 1966, in Kingsport, Tennessee, where she spent her entire life. On August 16, 2026, Darlene passed away, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and countless people who loved her dearly.

Darlene was born to the late Kathleen Jeffers and stepfather, Hack Jeffers. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ricky Shoemaker; as well as her sister, Diane Kindle; and her brothers, Gary Jeffers, Michael Jeffers, and Rocky Jeffers.

She is survived by her brothers, Terry Jeffers, Larry Jeffers, and Leon Jeffers.

Although Darlene never had children of her own, she was a mother in every way that truly mattered. She helped raise many of her nieces and nephews and loved them unconditionally. Her family was one of the greatest parts of her life, and the love she gave them will continue through the generations.

She was preceded in death by her beloved nieces, Martina Kindle and Kristy Kindle.

Those she leaves behind include her niece, Harley Crawford, and Harley's son, Caiden Crawford; Alex Kindle, Elijah Kindle, Donovan Diggs, David Henegar, Preston Jeffers, and Jordan Jeffers. These were among the nieces and nephews she helped raise and love, and they held a special place in her heart. Along with them, she leaves behind countless extended family members and loved ones who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Darlene also leaves behind her best friend, Rhonda Crawford, whom she had been friends with since 1981. Their friendship lasted more than four decades and grew into something much deeper than friendship-they were family. Rhonda and Darlene shared countless memories, laughs, and moments throughout her life.

Those who knew Darlene knew she had a personality all her own. She loved to cut up, make people laugh, and was never afraid to use a little sarcasm. She had a way of bringing laughter into a room and making memories that people would carry with them long after the moment had passed. Her humor, her strength, and the love she had for her family made her unforgettable.

Darlene may no longer be here to make us laugh, aggravate us with her sarcasm, or show her love in the ways only she could, but the memories she created will remain forever. She will be deeply missed by her family, her lifelong friends, and all of the people fortunate enough to have known and loved her.

Her life was not measured by whether she had children of her own, but by the many lives she touched, the children she helped raise, the family she loved, and the memories she left behind.

A celebration of Darlene's life will be held at a later date. Details regarding the celebration will be announced once arrangements have been finalized, and family and friends will be notified.

Rest peacefully, Darlene. Your laughter, your love, and that unmistakable sarcasm will never be forgotten.
