Loretta Ivalee Thompson

On March 14, 2026, after a period of declining health, Loretta Thompson went home to be with Jesus and her loved ones who had preceded her in death. She was born on November 1, 1955 in Marion, VA to her parents, Fred Thompson and Yvonne (Gilbert) Thompson. She later moved to Glade Springs, VA where she lived with her grandparents. Loretta was a 1973 graduate of Patrick Henry High School where she excelled in sports and was a varsity cheerleader. After graduation, she went to work at Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, TN. Loretta retired in 2012 after 39 years of service as a Sr. Administrative Assistant, most of which was in the Acetate Yarn Department. She made many good friends and coworkers throughout her career. She was active on the Women's Softball Team through Eastman's Recreation Department.

Loretta is survived by a brother, C. W. Thompson, a sister, Sonja Russell and husband, Alex, and a cousin, Jamey Rhea.

A private graveside service is being planned at the family cemetery in Glade Springs, VA.
