Lucinda Lee Hasterlik passed away surrounded by love on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the age of 80.
Born on March 6, 1945, in Staten Island, New York, Lucinda grew up in East Northport before settling in Huntington, Long Island where she shared a close and loving relationship with her mother and her two sisters, she had two children with Richard F. Romeo, later raising them as a single mom with the help of her family whose support and care meant so much to her, especially during challenging times.
Cindy worked in the service industry for over 60 years, a career perfectly suited to her genuine love for people.
She was recognized with multiple awards for her dedication and exceptional service. An avid member of several Community services Greenville Newcomers, The Roby-Adult center, VFW, and Fit-Club and her Pet Nanny business.
She was proud of her heritage and officially recognized into "The Daughters of the American Revolution".
A lifelong learner, Lucinda was always ready with a book recommendation or a thoughtful conversation about current events. She welcomed all people without judgment or prejudice and had a rare gift for making others feel seen and valued. Lucinda's legacy lives on in her kindness, her hard work, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her. During her years living in Tennessee she lovingly cared for her horse "Melly" & donkey "Champ."
Lucinda was predeceased by her parents, Adelbert E. Whitford and Wanda L. Peterson; her first husband, Richard F. Romeo; and her brother-in-law, Richard Phillips.
Lucinda is survived by her devoted husband of 17 years Pete Hasterlik; her children, Richard and Cynthia Romeo; her sisters, Nancy Hudson and Melinda Phillips; her nieces, Tara Miller, Gretchen Phillips, Samantha and Ally Hudson; her nephew, Christopher Perricone; her grandchildren, Kerri, April and Wendy Sohn, Ryan, Maria, and Vinny Romeo; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Dylan and Delilah Abcug. Her step daughters Debi Rayburn and Tracy Lumpkins and their extended family.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Cancer Society.
