Margie Edith Huffman, 86, of Kingsport, TN, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
Margie was a deeply loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, family member, and friend whose sweet and loving presence touched the lives of those around her. The love she gave to her family was returned many times over, and her memory will continue to live in the hearts of the many people who were blessed to call her family or friend.
Margie also had a special place in her heart for her beloved furbabies, who were part of her family and brought her much love and companionship throughout her life.
Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Lee Huffman; infant son, Junior Walters; great-granddaughter, Eliza Knox; parents, Clyde and Myrtle Taylor; brother, Jackie R. Taylor; and her only nephew, Jonathan B. Taylor.
Left to cherish Margie's memory are her daughter, Tema Huffman, of the home, and son-in-love, Jerry Bracken, of Chambersburg, PA; son, Ammon Huffman and daughter-in-love, Trish, of Kingsport, TN; granddaughter, Tierra Lee and husband Hank, of Mooresville, NC; grandsons, GM2 (Gunner's Mate Second Class Petty Officer) Austin Huffman and wife Julia, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Alex Huffman and fiancée Grace Carter, of Kingsport, TN.
She is also survived by her step-granddaughters, Ashley Ball and husband Zack, of Abingdon, VA, Sandy de la Fuente and husband Jay, of Christiansburg, VA, Madyson Bracken, of Chambersburg, PA, and Gracie Bracken, of Chambersburg, PA; step-grandson, Chief Petty Officer Dallas Bracken and wife Hannah, of Honolulu, HI; and step-great-grandchildren, Liam Ball, Knox Ball, McKenzie Ball, Richard de la Fuente, Arya Bracken, and Odin Bracken.
Margie also leaves behind special family members Paul and Ruth McMurray; several brothers and sisters-in-law; cousins; many close friends and extended members of the family; and all of her beloved furbabies who will miss her sweet and loving presence.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Eric Harman and his dedicated nurses, Danielle and Jill, who served as phenomenal pillars of Margie's healthcare for approximately two decades.
The family is also deeply grateful to the doctors, nurses, caregivers, and staff of Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital ER, ICU, and CCU in Mooresville, NC, for their undivided attention and care during Margie's hospitalization; Crestview Health & Rehabilitation Center in Mooresville, NC, for providing around-the-clock care when her needs became greater than the family could manage at home; and S. Mitchell Mack House Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Mooresville, NC, for surrounding Margie with comfort, dignity, love, and care during the times when home hospice was not possible.
Special gratitude is extended to the staff, nurses, and caregivers of Iredell County Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Brie Pollack and Ginny Freud, who cared for Margie during her stay at Crestview, and to Angela Tevepaugh, Amber Sawyers, and JoAnn Ward. These remarkable caregivers became far more than caregivers or friends. They became extended family during Margie's time in home hospice care.
The family's gratitude for the compassion, kindness, and loving care shown to Margie goes beyond what words can adequately express. They will forever be grateful to each person who helped care for her and brought comfort to both Margie and her family.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM, with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 6:30 PM, at The City Church, 2601 East Center Street, Kingsport, TN. Pastor Ronnie Horne will officiate, with music provided by Eric McMurray.
