Tom passed away peacefully in his sleep Saturday, September 19, 2026, at home with his wife Pam by his side. Following a two year battle with acute myeloid leukemia, he went to be with his Lord and Savior.

He was born September 25, 1946 in Bethel, NC, and a graduate of both Bethel High School and Pitt Technical Institute. Tom proudly served in the United States Navy, and built a 43 year career at Telerent, in Raleigh, NC which took him all over the country until his retirement in 2013. Later in life he met Pam and they married in less than a year. People didn't understand, but they did. In everyday life, they should never have crossed paths. But God made that happen.

Tom was a Christian, a member of Christ Fellowship. Lately, he spoke of how excited he was to meet Jesus and see Heaven! He was a big fan of The Chosen series. The beach was Tom's favorite destination. Being physically unable to go in recent months was heartbreaking for him. He also loved the NC Tarheels basketball team with a passion. He never did understand Tennesseeans' obsession with UT football. We forgave him and loved him anyway. He was kind, quiet, giving and loving. He will be missed very much.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Selma Dail Bailey. Surviving Tom are his wife, Pam Bailey of the home; children, Brandie Green of Clayton, NC and Brian Bailey, of Naples, Fl. ; a sister, Lorena Andrews of Bethel, NC; grandchildren Austin (Jordan) Green, Aaron Green, Selma Bailey, Brian Bailey, Jr, Alexander Komorov, Olga Flores and Roman Bailey. Other special family members mourning his loss include his nephew Joey Andrews, his brother in law Jeff Wilson, and his father in law Harry Wilson.

Tom will be interred with military honors at Mountain Home National Cemetery on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at 1:00 PM.
