Michael John Anderson, 74, of Saint James City, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 12, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family.
Michael lived a life filled with joy, adventure, and love. A true outdoorsman at heart, he found his greatest peace on the water, boating, fishing, and sailing under the Florida sun. Whenever Michael and Patty had time off, they made the most of it together soaking up the beauty of Florida, where every day felt like a vacation. He was also a gifted woodcarver, known for crafting meaningful, personalized pieces for those he cared about. Each creation reflected his thoughtfulness and made people feel truly seen and loved.
He was an avid collector of sorts, an antique enthusiast, and a classic car lover, especially hot rods. His favorite retreat was his garage in Tennessee, where he would spend countless hours carving, collecting, and reminiscing. But beyond his hobbies, what made Michael so special was his heart. He was gentle, kind, and endlessly giving, a funny and wise soul who radiated warmth to everyone around him.
Michael was the kind of dad who always picked up the phone. His children cherished his steady advice, his reassuring voice, and his ability to make any problem seem solvable. His family was his pride and joy.
He met the love of his life, Patty, in 1999 at a friend's wedding. From that moment on, they were inseparable. Soulmates in every sense, they were married two years later and spent the next 25 years treasuring every second together. Their love was deep, joyful, and inspiring to all who knew them.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Josephine Anderson, and his sisters, Leona Randall and Kathy Rechul.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Patty Anderson; his children, Jeff (and wife Patti), Dan (and husband Joey), and Erin Wilson; grandchildren, Brock, Luke, and Elyssa (and husband Chris); brothers, David (and wife Ann) and Chuck (and wife Pam); and sister, Joan Makowski. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in Tennessee. Cards and flowers may be sent to the family's Tennessee summer home in Rogersville.
