Michael Allen Freels, 62, of Gate City, VA, passed away on Saturday, November 15th, 2025. He was born in Flint, Michigan but spent a majority of his life in East Tennessee and the Southwest Virginia area.
Mike has spent a great deal of his life working on Greenbriar Farm for Bill Ford and his family. The Ford family held a very special place in his heart. Other employers that have also been great friends are Larry Collins, who worked at Git-Er-Done Motors and Donald Clifton with Clifton's Iron Works. He has always taken immense pride in any work that he was apart of. He has loved and been loved by many friends and family, and would do anything he could to help out anyone who needed it.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Sylvia Freels; and his sister, Berniece Anderson.
Mike is survived by his nephew and great-nephew, Jeremy Nash & Marshall Nash of Gate City; his niece and her spouse, Lorie Nash & James Jones of Kingsport; his niece and great-nephew, Georgia Nash & Xander Mack of Kingsport; his nephew & his spouse, Joey & Madison Davidson of Kingsport; his cousin, Raymond Vanderpool; his good friend and her son, Nellie Harr & Carson; as well as many more cousins and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Trinity Memorial Centers to help with funeral expenses.
