Michael Eugene Hartgrove

Michael Eugene Hartgrove, 70, of Gate City, VA, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

Mike was a man who till his very last breath fought to do things his own way. He was a simple man, hippie, animal lover (whisperer of sorts), who enjoyed smoking weed, singing to Hank, Willy and Johnny, and he always had a good story from the life he once lived.

Mike is preceded in death by his mother and father, Elmer (Ray) and Rachelle Hartgrove, grandmother, grandfather and lots of very special Aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He is survived by his daughter, Brynn Hartgrove (Jason Davis); grandson, Connor Duff; siblings, Donna Sampson and Eddy Hartgrove; niece, Alexis Sampson (Eric Tipton); nephews, Shawn Sampson (Stephanie Sampson) and Jason Hartgrove (Savannah Hartgrove); and lots of very special Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.

Celebration of life gathering will be Thursday, March 12th @ 3pm. Address is 115 E. 22nd St. N. Big Stone Gap, VA 24219.
