Michael Joseph White

January 22, 1952 — July 9, 2025

Michael J. White, age 73, passed away on July 9, 2025, in Johnson City, TN.

He was born on January 22, 1952, in Massachusetts, to the late Alice (Wilson) and Ernest White. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Ernie.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Valerie (Burlingame); his children, Michael, Mark, Amanda Christine, Barry, Rosina, Corinna, Josh, Billy, Heather, and Branden;16 grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters; his in-laws, Janine, Vicki, Don, Charles, Shannon, Scott, Lou, and Jennifer; as well as several nieces and nephews, and Friends.

Michael played bass guitar from an early age, which took him all over the US and even Canada with his brother, Ernie. Later in life, he recorded an album in Nashville with the Mesa band. Michael played with many fantastic musicians and bands throughout his career. He won several awards as well. He was best known for playing overhand bass because he had broken his hand, and that was the only way he could play. Michael continued to play until about 2015 or 2016, when his arthritis made it difficult to play. While music was his passion, he also worked as a landscaper and drove a tow truck for several companies in Fort Myers, FL, where he lived for years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
