Millicent (Millie) Darline Carter Hutchins, 70, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 20, 2026.

Born to Scott and Bella Lemire Carter on June 15, 1956, she was blessed with two brothers: Dan and Willie, and three sisters: Rose, Sue and Ruthie. They were raised in a small house on Timbertree Branch in Hiltons, VA. The family was poor in material posessions but so very rich in LOVE. She was an avid animal lover and had many furbabies who were treated as children. Millie was Milmom to a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nieces. She was a banker for many years until her retirement due to health reasons.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Scott and Bella Lemire Carter; her brothers, Dan Carter and Rick Hensley; her nephew, Jason Carter; and beloved brother-in-law, George Jr. Hutchins.

Those left to cherish Millie's memory are her loving husband of 52 1/2 years, Carl, the love of her life; her special nephew, Joe Hutchins, whom she thought of as a son; her special niece, Angela Hutson; her stepmother, Betty Carter; her brother, Willie (Penny) Carter & family; her caregiver/sister, Rose Carter & family, including Aubrey Rose and Raelynn Millie, her namesake; her sister, Sue (David) Tomlinson & family; her sister, Ruthie (Mike) Graham & family; her sister, Christal Hensley & family; her brother-in-law, Lankford (Janie) Hutchins; her sister-in-law, Lisa Carter Trivette; her uncle, Frank Carter; her special cousins, Penny (Cecil) Stallard, Darline Inscoe, and Diane Coomer; her special friends, Betty Gray, Tammy Carter, and Sarah LaPrade; as well as many cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Glenwood Baptist Church (2524 McMurray Hollow Rd., Hiltons, VA 24251) on Saturday, August 1st, 2026 at 2:00 P.M., with Brother Rex McMurray officiating, and Eric McMurray and the McMurray Brothers providing music.

The family would like to extend a special Thank You to sister-in-law and caregiver, Lisa Carter Trivette, caregiver, Janie Leonard, and Gentiva Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sullivan County Animal Shelter in honor of Millie.
