Nancy Ruth Mack

Nancy R. Mack, affectionately known by family and friends as "Lil Peanut", passed away peacefully in her hometown of Johnson City, TN, on June 6, 2025, at the age of 76.

She was born on February 8, 1949, to the late Melinda "Peanut" Rhea. In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by her son, Gregory Hughes; her brother, Bill Hughes; and her sister, Patricia Wells.

Nancy lived several years in California; however, her life was deeply rooted in the community as she took over as owner of the bar her mother started, the Mecca. Nancy was a free-spirited person, mother, and lover of music. She welcomed everyone at the Mecca, greeting everyone with a smile and a cold drink. Never one to follow the beaten path, Nancy carved out a life rich with experiences, not possessions. She lived her life unapologetically and lived by the words "who cares what people think?". Her love was felt from Johnson City to California. She loved sports of all kinds, and Billy D. Williams.

Those left behind to cherish her memories include her children, Lorenzo (Kimberly) Hughes, Robert (Kristen) Mohammed, Thomas "Lenny" Hughes, and Chanda (Tony Davis) Hughes; her sisters, Jane Hill and Faye Stover; her brothers, Fred (Linda) Rhea and Paul (Tammi) Rhea; and her grandchildren, Lorielle Summers, Tony and Kyesha Davis, Daffanie and Brent Price, Edgardo, Antonio, Kenneth "Bud", and Alexis Rodrigues.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their many acts of kindness during this difficult time. We are forever grateful to God for the love of family and friends who have surrounded us during our bereavement. Special thanks to Dr. William "Bill" Clever and Caregiver Danna Flores.

A Celebration of Life and Legacy for Nancy will take place at 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Carver Recreation, 322 W Watauga Ave., Johnson City, TN 37604.
