Otis Wayne Vicars, 85, of Kingsport, Tennessee left this world to go to his heavenly home on Friday September, 26. 2025.
Otis was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Otis was a very talented individual, he was a fantastic athlete, artist, singer, and dancer. He was a star full back at Sullivan West High School and a golden glove boxer during his high school days. He was an avid painter and artist, painting and drawing several pieces for his family and friends. Otis was a phenomenal singer and dancer, performing in bands during his youth and countless outings for his friends and classmates his whole life. Otis loved to sing and sang his way through life right to the very end.
Otis served his country honorably in the National Guard as a Staff Sergeant. Otis was born in Kingsport and lived almost his entire life there. Otis married his high school sweetheart Charlotte Ann Hawk, and they bonded and flourished for over 63 years. He was an employee of Eastman Kodak Company for many years until his retirement in 1998. In retirement, he took to gardening with his loving wife, where they won several beautification awards from the city of Kingsport for their yard work.
Otis was preceded in death by his brother, Raleigh; his sisters Ronell, Helen, Jessie, Wilma, Lolita, Reba, Loraine, Calamae, and Opal; his beautiful and wonderful wife of 63 years, Charlotte; and his eldest son, Vic.
Surviving to cherish him is his son, Joey; his daughter, Christy Young and husband Jay; his granddaughter, Bailey; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends who will miss him greatly.
In lieu of flowers, Otis and his family would like any and all contributions to be made to the Rafa Ministry at Sunnyside Baptist Church of Kingsport, Tennessee.
