Portia Maude Salyer

Portia Maude Salyer, age 73, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Martin and Dorothy Bach. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Brent Salyer; her sister, Joan Brown; and niece, Mechelle Norris.

Portia was educated at St. Dominic's Catholic School and Washington College Academy.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Portia is survived by her daughter, Sarah (Jason) Absher; step-children, Adam (LeAnn) Salyer and Kimberly (Tim) Broadwater, and their children, Kristin, Mason, and Madison; her grandchildren, Cheyenne Absher, Jason (Mackenzie) Absher, Jr., Jordan Absher, Quentin (Kayla) Absher, Dillon Absher, Shanta Absher, Tiffany Absher, and Hannah Absher; her great-grandchildren, Maia Absher and Jiraiya Absher and her boyfriend, Joe Volpe; as well as many loving extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, in Trinity Memorial Centers, located at 1221 Stewball Circle, Kingsport, TN 37660. Relatives and friends are invited to visit Portia's family from 6:00 pm until the time of service.
