Rita Kay Payne

Rita Kay Payne, 68, of Kingsport, TN, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

Born in Kingsport, Tennessee, Rita was a lifelong resident of the community she cherished. She attended Ketron High School and carried with her a deep sense of loyalty, kindness, and strength that touched everyone she met. Rita was a woman of faith who had been saved and trusted in the Lord, finding comfort and peace in her belief. Rita shared 32 loving years of marriage with her husband, Scott Payne. She was a proud and caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose heart was always open to those around her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Scott Payne, and her parents, Bob and June Anderson.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jesse English and wife Amanda; her cherished granddaughter, Jada, who brought her endless joy; her sister, Becky Anderson; her brothers, Mark Anderson and Steve Anderson; and her special friend, Brenda Snapp, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close.

Rita will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the love she poured into her family. Her legacy lives on through those she loved so dearly, and her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her.
