Listen to Obituary

Robert "Bob" Dewayne Cowden, of Fall Branch, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the age of 63.

Bob was an avid outdoorsman who found his greatest peace on the water with a fishing rod in hand. Fishing was more than a hobby, it was a passion that brought him joy and created lasting memories with family and friends. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he never missed an opportunity to be involved in his family's lives. Whether coaching their teams, cheering them on from the sidelines, or simply being present for life's everyday moments, he gave his time and heart without hesitation.

A loyal supporter of the University of Tennessee, Bob could always be counted on to cheer for the Vols with unwavering enthusiasm. During the holiday season, one of his greatest joys was "helping" Santa bring Christmas magic to his children and beloved grandson. Above all, he treasured his role as Granddaddy and took immense pride in being the best Granddaddy in the world. He filled his grandson's life with love, laughter, encouragement, and unforgettable memories. Bob's patience, sense of humor, wisdom, and steadfast love touched everyone who knew him. The memories he created with his family and friends will be cherished always, and the legacy of his love will continue to live on in both their hearts and lives.

Bob was preceded in death by the love of his life and beloved wife of 25 years, Carol Cowden; his mother, Judy Cowden; and his brother, David Cowden.

Bob is survived by his sons, Shayne Cowden and his wife, Paige, whom he loved as his own daughter, and Austin Cowden; his grandson, Xander Cowden; his father, Wayne Cowden, and his wife, Peggy; his brother, Alan Cowden, and his wife, Teresa; his sister-in-law, Lori Cowden; his aunts, Francis Adams and Teresa Cowden; his uncle, Jerry Smith; his cherished friends, Debbie Peters and Keith Cody; and a host of loving cousins, nephews, and nieces.
