Robert Allen Gorney, 63, of Johnson City, TN, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025.
Born in Ravenna, Ohio, Robert was raised in Detroit, MI, where he spent most of his life and attended Cody High School. In 2016, he made the move to Tennessee to be closer to his children and grandchildren.
Robert was an over-the-road truck driver who embraced life with joy and adventure. He loved cooking for his friends and family, and he was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need, no matter how big or small the task. He built lasting friendships wherever he went and his grandchildren were a joy to his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Gorney and Barbara Hooper; his step-father, James Hooper; and his brother, Michael Gorney.
Robert is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Dexter & husband, Tom, and Jaclyn Cowden & husband, Dave; his grandchildren, Lily Hensley and Jaxon, Noah, & Hadley Cowden; his brothers, Ronald McGough & William "Bill" McGough; his sisters, Louise Meyn & Teresa Gorney; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Cremation services will be handled by Trinity Memorial Centers in Kingsport, Tennessee. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
