Robin Anita Dorton

Robin Dorton, 52, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 14th, 2025, surrounded by the embrace of her family.

Robin was a faithful member of First Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ in Rye Cove, Virginia. Her faith gave her strength, but it was her kindness that gave light to those around her. She carried in her heart the gentleness of the hills she called home, always ready with a warm word, a loving gesture, or a quiet smile that made the world feel softer.

She found joy in simple, steadfast things. Robin enjoyed her animals, her horse, Bo, the quiet companionship of her dog Harley, and above all the affection of her beloved cat, Nuzzle. She loved quilting and sewing and spending time together with her beloved family. When she found time she enjoyed the outdoors either floating down the river, letting the water carry her, or riding horseback.

Above all, Robin's greatest delight was her children and grandchildren. To them, she gave not only love, but also a legacy of tenderness, patience, and devotion that will remembered by them throughout their years.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Troy Light Dorton; parents, Emiley Jane Ramsey and Walter Jackie Ramsey; her brothers, Michael McDavid and Doug Ramsey; and her sister, Zola Williams.

Robin is survived by her daughters, Samantha Welch and husband Brandon of Beckley, WV, and Kayla Dorton and Mitch Rose of Big Stone Gap; her son, Eric Dorton; and her precious grandchildren, Michael, Elizabeth, Mathew, Emiley, and Hattilynn. She also leaves behind a brother, Wayne (Brenda) Ramsey several nieces and nephews; special nieces, Christi, Tracey, and Jackie; and nephews dear to her heart, Joey, Mark, Scotty, and Bubby.

Visitation will be held at Trinity Memorial on Thursday, September 18th, from noon until 2:00 pm, followed by a service officiated by Timothy Cress. Robin will be laid to rest at McDavid Family Cemetery, with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family is comforted knowing she now rests in God's peace, her spirit as free as the river she loved, and her kindness stitched forever into the lives of those who knew her.
