Roger Lee Johnson

May 28, 1946 — August 24, 2025

Roger Lee Johnson, 79, of Johnson City, TN, passed away at home with his family by his side on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

Originally from Wisconsin, Roger moved to Illinois and then settled in Tucson, Arizona where he raised his children with his then wife, Beverly. At the age of 75, he relocated to Tennessee where he would live out the remainder of his life. He was a sweet and gentle soul who loved whole-heartedly and selflessly. He was one of 5 children. Roger enjoyed all things American Muscle Car and acquired the nickname "Hot Rod Roger" later in life. He enjoyed bowling in his younger years and a great game of cards. He liked game shows, comedies, crossword puzzles, sci-fi, history, and mystery novels. He had quick wit, a neverending number of jokes, stories of all kinds and he never met a stranger. He would have given you a safe place to rest, a meal, or his last dollar without hesitation. He never failed to say" I love you" every night before bed and "Thank you" after everything we would do for him. He will be terribly missed. We will celebrate the love he gave and the warmth of his time here.

Taking care of you over the last few years and in your final days and hours has been an Honor, Dad. ~ Tera and Chad

Roger is preceded by his father and mother, James P. and Erma L. Johnson, his eldest brother Harold Johnson, his eldest son Christopher Scott Johnson, his infant daughter Michelle Marie Johnson, and his long-time companion, Joann.

He is survived by his ex-wife Beverly Carlson, daughter Melissa Price-Johnson of Maine, his daughter, Tera Conley and her husband (his other son) Chad Conley of Johnson City, TN, and his youngest son Kevin Johnson of Tucson AZ. His Grandchildren; Chelsie Riddle (JC), Kasey Johnson (Marlena), Kristian Jackson, Kayleb Raymond, Kloye Price, and Kylie Price. In addition, he is survived by his great-grandchildren, Ryan Riddle, Raylee Riddle, and Temperance Johnson; and his brothers Ronald "Ronnie" Johnson, Raymond Johnson and his sister, Jean Lauer (Dennis). In addition to his family, he is also survived by his private duty CNA, Alyssa Parker, who loved and cared for him as if he were her own Grandpa.

Roger's wishes were to have no service and simply asked that he be remembered by all of us he left behind, "by the good times, the laughter shared, and moments when no words were necessary".

The family would like to recognize all the staff members from Gentiva Hospice of Johnson City, TN, Amedisys Hospice of Elizabethton, TN, and Maxim Healthcare of Johnson City, TN.
