Sammy Williams, 75, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
He lived in Kingsport most of his life and was raised in the West View community of Kingsport. Sammy was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle who will be missed by many.
Sammy loved spending time with his grandchildren. Whether it was going to a record store to pick out vinyl records, shooting pool, going to 7 Brew and Warriors Path State Park, washing cars, or simply sitting in a chair outside watching them play, those moments meant everything to him.
He graduated from Lynn View High School and retired from AFG Glass Plant after 40 years of service. Sammy was an avid Bob Seger and Beatles fan.
Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, Lucian "Clarance" and Marie Williams; his brothers, Phillip "Ranny" Williams, Bobby Williams, Danny Williams, and Terry Williams; his nephew, Phillip "Tinker" Williams; his sister-in-law, Inez Williams; and several aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Chanda Winegar, Chayna Crawford, and Branten (Madison) Williams; his grandchildren, Shayden(Jasmin) Crawford, Gaige Crawford, Emily (Brendan) Winegar, Megan (Rylee)Winegar, and Octavia ("Octovia," as he called her) Williams; his sister, Peggy Williams; the mother of his children, Pam Williams; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his second family, including Roberta Williams, Shelby Freeman, son Ryder, Leslie Hall, and children Makennah and Dominic.
The family of Sammy Williams would like to thank JCMC Trauma Department, especially Nurse Chris and chaplain Alex, as well as Kingsport City Fire Department and Sullivan County EMS, all of whom gave Sammy wonderful care and support to his family.
